HOUSE MOVES TO RECONSIDER A BILL THAT MODIFIES REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT-BASED VISAS
The United States House of Representatives reconsidered the EAGLE Act of 2022, formally known as Equal Access to Green cards for Legal Employment Act of 2022. USCIS UPDATES POLICY TO AUTOMATICALLY EXTEND GREEN CARDS FOR NATURALIZATION APPLICANTS
On December 12, 2022, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS updated the USCIS Policy Manual, allowing USCIS to automatically extend the validity of Permanent Resident Cards (Green Cards) for lawful permanent residents who have applied for naturalization. This change is aimed to help naturalization applicants who experience longer processing times. DHS ANNOUNCES REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR TEMPORARY PROTECTED STATUS FOR ETHIOPIA
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) posted a Federal Register notice on Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Ethiopia, which provided information about how to register for TPS under Ethiopia’s designation. In October, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas announced the 18-month designation of Ethiopia for TPS.
