Deadline: May 7, 2025
The U.S. Department of State reminds all travelers that beginning May 7, 2025, passengers will be required to present REAL ID-compliant identification to board domestic flights and access certain federal facilities.
What’s Acceptable?
U.S. Passport Book or Passport Card
REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or ID card (look for the ⭐️ star marking)
Enhanced Driver’s Licenses (EDL) from WA, MI, MN, NY, and VT — accepted
even without the star
REAL ID standards aim to ensure secure and verified identification issuance. If your state-issued ID does not meet REAL ID standards, you'll need to use an alternative document like a passport or EDL to fly within the U.S. or enter federal sites.
