TRUMP EXTENDS THROUGH MARCH BANS ON FOREIGN WORKERS

On December 31, 2020, President Trump signed a proclamation extending, through March 31, 2021, earlier suspensions of certain immigrant and nonimmigrant visa applicants. The nonimmigrant suspension applies to applicants for H-1B, H-2B, and L-1 visas; J-1 visa (exchange visitors participating in intern, trainee, teacher, camp counselor, au pair, and summer work travel programs) and any spouses or children of covered applicants applying for H-4, L-2, or J-2 visas.

This means, that as long as this presidential proclamation is in effect, U.S. consulates will not issue the visas listed above unless the visa applicant can demonstrate that he or she falls within an exception to the proclamation.
