IMMIGRANT VISA PRIORITIZATION ANNOUNCED BY STATE DEPARTMENT
The Department of State announced a tiered prioritization approach to sort immigrant visa applications after reduced operating capacity because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The immigrant visa category priority order starts with immediate relative intercountry adoption visas, age-out cases (Tier One), followed by immediate relative visas; fiancé(e) visas; and returning resident visas (Tier Two). Next, comes family preference immigrant visas and SE Special Immigrant Visas for certain employees of the U.S. government abroad (Tier Three). Other immigrant visas have Tier Four priority.
