Testimonies Released for the “Security of the U.S. Visa Programs” hearing


On March 15, 2016, the U.S Senate Committee on Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs held a hearing titled: “The Security of the U.S. Visa Programs.” The hearing was focused on addressing three important points raised by Chairman Ron Johnson.

Chairman Johnson was interested in the vetting and screening of visa applicants, the effectiveness of federal agencies who have teamed up under the visa program, and the precise details of how departments that were present at the hearing, specifically, were working together to ensure national security among the U.S visa program.

This hearing included testimony from United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) director Leon Rodriguez, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director Sarah Saldaña, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs David Donahue, and Inspector General John Roth.
